Thunderosa is a Texas-based hard rock and Southern rock band with a career spanning over two decades, known for their relentless, original rock and roll energy and a sound that blends southern speed boogie, heavy blues, and rock ‘n’ roll
The band began in Tucson, Arizona in 1996–1997, quickly building a reputation for high-energy live performances. In 2000, they moved to Syracuse, New York, where they toured, recorded, and collaborated on multiple projects. In 2005, they relocated to Austin, Texas, where they injected the local rock scene with their raging, hard-driving original music. The band has since grown into a “Texas Thunderosa family”, touring extensively across the U.S. and internationally, including European, Mexican, and Canadian tours.
Thunderosa’s sound is described as “100% Texas stomp”, with comparisons to ZZ Top meets Motorhead. Tracks like Stone Deaf (Because Of You!) and Beer Soaked, Hot Rods and Rock ‘N’ Roll showcase their Southern-fried rock energy and blues influences. They are recognized as “one of the top 100 live unsigned bands in America”.
Played with ZZ Top, Kid Rock, Stone Temple Pilots, Night Ranger, Buck Cherry, Chevelle, Ted Nugent, Skid Row, Twisted Sister, The Doobie Brothers, and many more. Released multiple records, including Ride the Snake (2018) and Turn Up the Gun Rack (2002) Discogs. Known for thousands of concerts, a loyal fanbase, and a reputation for pure, unapologetic rock and roll.
Thunderosa remains active, touring worldwide and continuing to bring their “since 1996” energy to audiences. They are described as “older, wiser, and always ready to fight the good fight” with their signature rock stomp .
